Paris Journal, Day 3
Day three in Paris was all about food. We overslept from jet-lag, and made our way to Loving Hut where we had a very good lunch of savory crepes, seitan pastry, creamy pumpkin soup, kebabs, and espresso. The restaurant also had a small grocery section where croissants, chocolate croissants, aged vegan cheese, and other hard-to-find items were for sale, and we bought some for breakfast, which you'll see tomorrow! During our meal, a very eccentric man visited us, sat down at a nearby table, stole the table centerpiece (a small vase of flowers), offered us his umbrella, asked for and received free coffee - which he complained about taking so long that they must have been growing it in Venezuela while he waited (beggars can be choosers, apparently), and then ran off. So sorry I didn't get a picture of him for you!

We couldn't stay long as we had to get to a boat called La Baleine Blanche (The White Whale), where our vegan Thanksgiving dinner was being served by our amazing hosts at the Gentle Gourmet. The dinner was jam-packed with and eager and eclectic crowd of locals and visitors - most of whom were not even vegetarian, but happily devoured their generously heaping plates of mushroom seitan, sweet, salty and moist corn bread, roasted root veggies, mashed potatoes, gravy, Brussels sprouts with roasted pine nuts, dried fruit compote and cranberry sauce. I sat with the cookbook goddesses Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero who are each hosting their own event at Paris Vegan Day on Sunday.
Below the dining area was a bar serving organic wine and cider, and the Sienne River just outside the windows was aglow with lights and looked gorgeous. I couldn't tell if i was tipsy or if the boat was swaying. I may have to come back to Paris for Thanksgiving next year, this was one of the best I've had! Tres bien!
