Bill Moyers Takes on Ag-Gag
Kill the messenger. Essentially, that is what Ag-Gag laws aim to do. Frighteningly, these repressive laws are getting passed in many states. Rather than rewarding journalists, investigators and whistle-blowers for exposing the sorts of abuses by which most people would be appalled (abuses which are often considered "standard industry practices"), Ag-Gag laws intend to make it a crime to document and expose the abuse! Even though investigations like these often result in criminal cruelty charges, lawmakers seem more interested in protecting profits and keeping citizens in the dark. Sound insane? Bill Moyers explains:
"So-called “ag-gag” laws that appear inspired by the ALEC model have been passed in several states. This report, produced by Okapi Productions, LLC and the Schumann Media Center, Inc. looks at the effect of these laws on both our food supply and our freedom of speech." - BillMoyers.com
