Spiders produce silk fibers with remarkable properties including high tensile strength, elasticity, durability and softness.

We’ve developed technology to replicate this amazing process sustainably at large scale. Our knit ties are our first prototype product, available in a limited edition release.

  • We study silk proteins found in nature to determine what gives them their incredible properties.
  • We develop proteins inspired by these natural silks by putting genes into yeast.
  • We produce the protein in large quantities through fermentation, using yeast, sugar and water.
  • We take the silk protein and spin it into fibers.
  • We knit or weave these fibers into fabrics and garments.

It looks tailored and athletic simultaneously. It’s luxury but focused on sustainability. It’s both NY and LA (Williamsburg and Malibu to be precise). Being produced from organic and recycled fabrics, the collection helps stop the cruel reality of pesticides used to grow conventional cotton and other crops. With cotton representing 40% of the world’s textiles, it’s sad that only 1% of it is organic.

Not everything worth doing comes easy. But if you can believe it, you can make it real. Maniwala comes from the Filipino term, meaning to believe.

Maniwala is a modern American lifestyle brand, committed to leading the shift toward more responsible goods. We craft bags, apparel, and accessories – all made in the U.S.A. from animal-free, plastic-free materials. We’re committed to doing the least harm to people and planet, and making products that do the most good for you on your journey

For us it’s all about being light. Less on your back. Less on your mind. More focus on the experience. Not buying things you don’t need, and making sure what you do buy doesn’t do needless harm to people or planet. That’s what we’re after, so we work hard to make products that live up to that.

Where do clothes come from? How does cotton become a t-shirt? Who does the work, and under what conditions? These are the simple questions that often go unasked–and unanswered–by many of today’s top clothing brands.

ETHCS is different. We care. And we know you care. We care about looking good, and we believe no one should suffer for it. The workers who produce our clothes are protected under the Fair Wear Foundation, which means:
